もともと住居だった一室を、解体からスタート。オレンジとブルーをキーカラーに、アーバンでありながらポップな空気を感じられる空間を目指しました。

 

解体時に現れた無骨な鉄骨はあえてそのまま残し、部屋の中央を一直線に伸びるカウンターを空間の軸に設計。キーカラーであるオレンジのスツールや、トイレを含めた細部まで、一つひとつのディテールにこだわっています。

 

印象的な紐のライトに加え、タイルで製作した照明器具が柔らかく空間を照らします。

 

ロゴを使用したオリジナルグッズも制作しました。「店のグッズ」でありながら、日常でもファッションアイテムとして身につけたくなるものを目指し、ガーメントダイのブルーTシャツに、ショップのコピーである “You probably don’t remember last night.” をオレンジインクでプリントしたTシャツと、厚みのあるロゴ入りアクリルキーホルダーの2アイテムを制作しました。こちらはお店で購入できます。

そして9月には、オランダ人アーティスト Steven van Lummel が来日し、壁画を制作しました。

壁に描かれているのは、4つのエレメントとひとつの大きな山。
そして、Stevenのシグネチャーである「立方体」と「丸」のシェイプ。

異なる4つの存在が、それぞれの役割を持ちながら、ひとつの山を支えている。

 

山の頂上に見えるのは、「立方体」と「丸」。

このシェイプには、さまざまな要素が集まり、最後にはひとつのシンプルな形へと辿り着いていく、というStevenのコンセプトが込められています。

 

山を登るのは、決して簡単じゃない。

でも、登った先には、きっと新しい景色が待っている。

この場所で生まれる出会いや時間が積み重なって、
YATEがこれからも長く愛される場所になりますように。

Originally a residential room, the space was completely stripped back, starting with the demolition. Using orange and blue as the key colors, we aimed to create an atmosphere that feels urban yet playful and pop.

The raw steel structures revealed during the demolition were intentionally left exposed, while a counter stretching in a straight line through the center of the room was designed as the main axis of the space. From the orange stools, one of the key colors, to the details of the bathroom, every element was carefully considered.

In addition to the striking rope light, custom lighting fixtures made with tiles softly illuminate the space.

We also created a range of original goods featuring the YATE logo. Rather than simply making typical “shop merchandise,” we wanted to create pieces that people would actually want to wear as part of their everyday style. The collection includes a garment-dyed blue T-shirt printed with the shop’s signature phrase, “You probably don’t remember last night.” in orange ink, as well as a thick acrylic keychain featuring the YATE logo. Both are available at the shop.

In September, Dutch artist Steven van Lummel visited Tokyo to create a mural for the space.

The mural features four elements and one large mountain, together with Steven’s signature shapes: a cube and a circle.

Four different entities, each with their own role, come together to support a single mountain.

At the top of the mountain are the cube and circle.

These shapes embody Steven’s concept of bringing together many different elements and eventually arriving at one simple form.

Climbing a mountain is never easy.

But once you reach the top, there is always a new view waiting for you.

We hope that the encounters and moments created here continue to build upon one another, and that YATE becomes a place that people will love for many years to come.
